Hall of Honor

Requirements & Procedures of Nomination-

  • Nominees shall have been a high school coach and/or athletic director in the State of New Mexico and an active member of the New Mexico High School Coaches Association, or allied member of the New Mexico High School Coaches and Officials Association, (prior to 1954) and shall meet the following requirements:
    • Prior to 1946, shall have been an athletic coach and/or athletic director or high school official and a member of the New Mexico High School Coaches and Officials Association for one or more years.
    • 1946-1954, shall have been a member for five or more years of the New Mexico High School Coaches and Officials Association. Note: In 1954, the Coaches and Officials Association became separate organizations.
    • 1955 to present, shall have been an athletic coach and/or athletic director and a member of the New Mexico High School Coaches Association a minimum of 20 years.
  • Nominees shall have made a contribution to the Coaches Association.
  • Nominees shall have made a contribution to the coaching profession.
  • A standing committee shall be established with the president-elect of the Association serving as Chairman and the Executive Secretary serving as an ex-officio member without voting privileges.
  • The Hall of Honor Committee Chairman shall inform and request nominations for candidates for consideration for induction into the Hall of Honor from the membership of the Association.
  • Only nominations from current members of the Association shall be considered.
  • Nominees shall only be considered that meet the minimum requirements set forth in A. 1, 2, and 3.
  • The nominations shall only be considered when submitted on an official NMHSCA Hall of Honor nomination form. The nomination should be accompanied by supporting background information, news articles, clippings, letter of recommendations, etc., to enable the committee to give proper consideration to the nominee.
  • The Hall of Honor committee will annually review the eligible nominees on file with the Executive Secretary and/or the Awards Committee Chairman.
  • The Committee will recommend nominee(s) for induction into the Hall of Honor to the Board of Director at the Spring meeting of the Board.
  • Nominees shall be selected for induction into the Hall of Honor by a majority vote of the NMHSCA Board of Directors.
